Basketball Recap: Chopticon Comes Up Short

Chopticon lost against Great Mills back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Chopticon Braves took a hard 52-34 fall against the Great Mills Hornets.

Chopticon got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Lexi Mcallister and Kirnique Swales, who each put up eight points.

Great Mills' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was ABRIL ESPARZA, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. ESPARZA has become a key player for Great Mills: the team is 5-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Samantha Dyson, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Chopticon's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Great Mills, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.

Chopticon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-27 win against Huntingtown on the 19th. As for Great Mills, they will welcome St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
