Volleyball Recap: Sutherland's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Sutherland had already won nine in a row and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Shenendehowa Plainsmen. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since September 6th.

Leah Klueber paced Sutherland's offense, picking up 13 kills. Klueber got some help from Chloe Cunniffe and her 17 assists. Finally, Jessie Powers kept Sutherland's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Despite the defeat, Shenendehowa saw an underclassman step up: freshman Avery Young had 16 digs and three assists. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Young. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Fountain, who had ten digs.

Sutherland's victory bumped their record up to 20-1-2. As for Shenendehowa, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sutherland will head out to challenge Greece Olympia/Greece Odyssey at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shenendehowa, they will square off against Albany at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
