Baseball Recap: La Joya Extends Winning Streak to Four

La Joya had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Weslaco Panthers. The Coyotes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Gael Zambrano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ivan Marron was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Axel Pulido, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

La Joya's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Weslaco, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Weslaco beat La Joya by a score of 8-4 on Friday.
