Recap: Salem Generals vs. Hartford Central Tanagers
The Salem Generals lost against the Hartford Central Tanagers back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Salem lost to Hartford Central at home by a decisive 55-38 margin. While losing is never fun, Salem can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Hartford Central is ranked 173rd).
Alawnah Dunda was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds for Hartford Central. That's the first time this season that Dunda scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailin Severance, who scored 12 points.
Salem bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Hartford Central, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Salem will head out on the road to face off against Hadley Luzerne at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Hartford Central, they will be playing at home against Granville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
