Preview: Cedarcrest Red Wolves vs. Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks
Cedarcrest has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Cedarcrest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
On Saturday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Cedarcrest had to settle for a 43-41 loss against Monroe.
Despite the loss, Cedarcrest saw an underclassman step up: Kiki Anderson scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. The matchup was Anderson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laine Mckenzie, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Cedarcrest struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Marysville-Pilchuck's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in November after their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Bellingham, falling 67-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marysville-Pilchuck in their matchups with Bellingham: they've now lost six in a row.
Cedarcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Marysville-Pilchuck, they bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Cedarcrest against Marysville-Pilchuck when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 48-21 victory. With Cedarcrest ahead 26-6 at the half, the match was all but over already.
