Baseball Recap: Springboro Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Springboro extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 9-4 in the process. They came out on top against the Northmont Thunderbolts by a score of 7-3. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Thunderbolts, too.

Dylan Brabston tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Drew Davis was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Nick Hutchinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Northmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

On Northmont's side, Brady Canan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Canan has allowed since April 1st.

On the hitting side, Chase Fuduloff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Looking ahead, Springboro will head out on the road to take on Centerville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.5, the Elks 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Northmont will be paying especially close attention to Springboro's contest: after Springboro faces off against Centerville, they'll take on Northmont again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
