Michigan high school football has a new career coaching wins leader.

John Herrington of Harrison (Farmington Hills) notched win No. 431 on Friday night as his Hawks beat Berkley 39-0.

The 76-year old Herrington surpassed legendary Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills) head coach Al Fracassa, who stepped away in 2013 with 430 wins.

According to noted high school football researcher by Steven A. Floyd, Herrington also joined the all-time national Top 10 with the shutout victory. John McKissick of Summerville (S.C.) is the career leader with an astonishing 620 wins.

Harrison (6-2) has won 13 state titles under Herrington's leadership. He began his career at the school in 1970.
