Baseball Game Preview: Stevens Cardinals vs. Hillsboro-Deering Hillcats

The Stevens Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Hillsboro-Deering Hillcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Stevens is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Conant just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Orioles, falling 12-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cardinals have suffered since May 24, 2024.

Meanwhile, Hillsboro-Deering was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 6-2 to Derryfield.

Hillsboro-Deering saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Mcclure, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Hillsboro-Deering's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Stevens, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-4.

Stevens couldn't quite finish off Hillsboro-Deering when the teams last played back in May of 2018 and fell 6-4. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
