Softball Recap: Corydon Central Comes Up Short

Corydon Central fell victim to Floyd Central and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 2-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Ava Gerdon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

Corydon Central now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Floyd Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corydon Central will welcome Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Floyd Central, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Gibson Southern at 11:00 a.m. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
