Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Coeur D'alene

Coeur d'Alene barely beat Lake City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings put the hurt on the Timberwolves with a sharp 7-1 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Evan Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kolbe Coey was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Gavin Helms, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Coeur d'Alene kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Coeur d'Alene, bringing their record up to 14-1-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lake City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Coeur d'Alene will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lake City: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
