Football Game Preview: Troup Tigers vs. Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls

The Troup Tigers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls at 7:00 p.m. Troup will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Anderson-Shiro better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Troup's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Troup really gets things going. The Tigers put the hurt on Buffalo with a sharp 28-6 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Bison are ranked 804th).

Brett Wells had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 135 yards and three scores. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 130 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Hollie, who gained 159 total yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anderson-Shiro). They strolled past Warren with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 36-21. The Fighting Owls pushed the score to 36-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.

Troup's record is now 10-0. As for Anderson-Shiro, their record now sits at 4-6.

Everything came up roses for Troup against Anderson-Shiro in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 35-6 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Fighting Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
