Game recap: Cathedral Catholic defeats Scripps Ranch after jumping out to early lead

Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif.) jumped out to an early lead against Scripps Ranch (San Diego, Calif.) and never looked back on the way to a 52-10 victory on Saturday.

The Dons put up 14 points in the opening frame. Cathedral Catholic scored on a touchdown run by Tony Johnson and a touchdown pass by Garrett Bogart to Xavier Williams.

After taking the lead on a Johnson touchdown run in the first quarter, CC led 35-3 at the half.

The Dons expanded their lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. Cathedral Catholic scored two times in the third, including once on a Theo Hardson touchdown run.

CC's standout player in the win was Johnson. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

The Falcons' lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter.



The Dons came into the game allowing 13.2 points per game.

A 53-0 Cathedral Catholic victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

In a non-conference game next week Scripps Ranch (0-6) takes on Patrick Henry, and Cathedral Catholic (4-2) will go up against Lincoln in a Eastern game.
