Baseball Recap: Mendon Unity Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Mendon Unity won the last time they faced Pleasant Hill/Western and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs never let the Wolves get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jayce Huntley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adler Gray, who went 1-for-2 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Skylor Goudschaal also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Mendon Unity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mendon Unity's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-12. As for Pleasant Hill/Western, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Looking ahead, Mendon Unity will venture away from home to challenge Brown County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Pleasant Hill/Western does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
