Basketball Game Preview: South Effingham Mustangs vs. Brunswick Pirates

South Effingham hasn't had much luck against Brunswick recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Effingham Mustangs will head out to square off against the Brunswick Pirates at 7:30 p.m. South Effingham has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three contests.

South Effingham will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Glynn Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. South Effingham snuck past Glynn Academy with a 67-61 win on Saturday.

South Effingham can attribute much of their success to Will Harlin, who posted 20 points. That's the most points Harlin has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Hall, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, Brunswick unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Statesboro by a score of 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pirates have suffered since January 3, 2024.

Brunswick's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-2. As for South Effingham, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

South Effingham suffered a grim 84-61 defeat to Brunswick when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can South Effingham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
