Basketball Game Preview: Pomeroy Pirates vs. Dayton Bulldogs

Pomeroy is 8-0 against Dayton since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pomeroy Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Dayton Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Pomeroy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Pomeroy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Oakesdale with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 65-46. The win was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Pomeroy relied on the efforts of Jett Slusser, who shot 6-for-9 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, and Braxton McKeirnan, who posted 15 points along with five boards and three steals. Slusser is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzer Herres, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dayton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Colton with a sharp 52-32 victory on Saturday.

Dayton pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Pomeroy, their record is now 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Pomeroy against Dayton in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 64-16 victory. In that game, Pomeroy amassed a halftime lead of 39-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
