Softball Recap: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. Folsom Bulldogs

Del Oro had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Folsom Bulldogs on Tuesday as the Del Oro Golden Eagles made off with an 11-5 win. Del Oro's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Mikayla Finn 2027 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven innings set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Del Oro got a massive performance out of Abby Davidson 2025, who fired off two home runs and three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ariana Bottel 2024, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.

On Folsom's side, Presley Geissinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana DeAnda, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Folsom was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Oro didn't hit any.

Del Oro's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Folsom, they now have a losing record at 10-11.

Del Oro will head out on the road to square off against Whitney at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whitney will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Del Oro surely won't give up without a fight. As for Folsom, they are on the road again on Thursday to play Rocklin at 4:30 p.m. The last four games Rocklin has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
