Baseball Recap: Lapoynor Beats Cayuga for Their Fifth Straight Victory

LaPoynor entered their tilt with Cayuga on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Flyers have won by just one run.

Kaden McKinley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. LaPoynor is 6-2 when McKinley allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise. McKinley was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Case Partridge, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

LaPoynor's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Cayuga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

LaPoynor will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cayuga: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
