Baseball Game Preview: Solorio Sun Warriors vs. Simeon Wolverines

Solorio hasn't had much luck against Simeon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Sun Warriors will host the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m.

Simeon hit Solorio with a five-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Sun Warriors came up short against the Wolverines, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sun Warriors have suffered since April 29, 2024.

For Simeon's part, Christian Lott spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. Lott has become a key player for the Wolverines: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-8-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Simeon got a massive performance out of Cavion Danley, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Danley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Ware, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Simeon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Simeon dropped their record down to 7-9-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Solorio, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Solorio has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Simeon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
