Baseball Recap: Bishop Mcdevitt Starts Season with Victory Against Eastern Lebanon County

Bishop McDevitt had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Eastern Lebanon County Raiders a 7-0 shutout on Monday. The Crusaders not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024.

Vince Leoni made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Leoni was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Calvin Snyder was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Joel McNaughton was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Looking ahead, Bishop McDevitt will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Tulpehocken at 4:15 p.m. As for Eastern Lebanon County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Cedar Crest at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
