Softball Recap: Lincoln's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of seven wins, Lincoln's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Olentangy Braves by a score of 6-5. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 16-6 to the Braves when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Lincoln got a good showing from Ella Carlson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Carlson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Guthrie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Sarah Kitsmiller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Olentangy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will take on Pickerington North at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Olentangy, they will welcome Olentangy Berlin at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Braves' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Bears have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
