Baseball Game Preview: Wyomissing Spartans vs. Blue Mountain Eagles

Wyomissing hasn't had much luck against Blue Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Wyomissing is taking a road trip to face off against Blue Mountain at 10:00 a.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.

Last Wednesday, Wyomissing made easy work of Schuylkill Valley and carried off a 9-3 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Noah Rauenzahn made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Wyomissing let Ryan Graham and Parker LaFerriere run wild. Graham scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5, while LaFerriere scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave LaFerriere a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Noey, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blue Mountain). They blew past North Schuylkill 11-4 on Thursday. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2024.

The win was the third in a row for Blue Mountain, bringing their record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wyomissing, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Wyomissing suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Blue Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Wyomissing avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
