Soccer Game Preview: Lucerne Valley vs. Big Bear

Lucerne Valley hasn't had much luck against Big Bear recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lucerne Valley Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Big Bear Bears at 3:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lucerne Valley played against Silver Valley and lost via forfeit.

Lucerne Valley used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Silver Valley. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Jacob Palmerin (75), Samuel Acosta (48), and Julian Correa (75). The trio had averaged 52, 17.7, and 46.4 minutes respectively before Wednesday's game. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Acosta scored a goal, while he scored a goal.

Big Bear is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to eight goals on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Bears haven't been shut out since back in December of 2024.

Lucerne Valley is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7-1. As for Big Bear, they now also have a losing record at 6-7-1.

Lucerne Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Big Bear in their previous matchup on January 8th, sneaking past 2-1. Will Lucerne Valley repeat their success, or does Big Bear have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
