Softball Recap: Denfeld Takes a Loss

Denfeld was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels, falling 7-1. The Hunters were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rebels from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Noelle Vesel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Angie Simone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bridgette Vegar, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Denfeld's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Moose Lake/Willow River, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Coming up, Denfeld will face off against Duluth East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Moose Lake/Willow River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
