Baseball Recap: Elk Lake Warriors vs. Towanda Black Knights

After flying high against Wyalusing Valley last Saturday, Elk Lake came back down to earth. Elk Lake fell just short of the Towanda Black Knights by a score of 9-7 on Saturday. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Black Knights 4-0 in the first period.

Devin Lawrence and Dawson Sherman did some serious damage despite the final result: Lawrence went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Sherman scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alden Felker, who got four hits from his four at bats.

Even though they lost, Elk Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Towanda only posted a batting average of .226.

Elk Lake's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Towanda, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elk Lake will take on Tunkhannock at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Towanda, they will welcome Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
