Softball Game Preview: Jacksonville Golden Eagles vs. Pleasant Valley Raiders

Jacksonville hasn't had much luck against Pleasant Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will challenge the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jacksonville proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Lincoln 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Eagles have posted since March 14th.

Jaylen Huntley was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Dailyn Wood, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Pleasant Valley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sand Rock on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 19-0 shutout. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.

Jacksonville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 30-11.

Jacksonville might still be hurting after the 12-4 loss they got from Pleasant Valley when the teams last played back in February. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
