Basketball Recap: Evan Kennedy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Rowan over Central Cabarrus

West Rowan lost against Central Cabarrus back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The West Rowan Falcons fell 76-65 to the Central Cabarrus Vikings. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Rowan lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Evan Kennedy, who posted 16 points and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Kennedy a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brant Graham, who earned 15 points and five rebounds.

Kennedy wasn't the only one working in the assists department: West Rowan was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Central Cabarrus had a senior duo take command as Kevonta' Martin put up 27 points and Cayden Smith had 23 points. Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kameron Cook, who posted six points.

West Rowan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Central Cabarrus, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

West Rowan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-45 victory against East Rowan on the 8th. As for Central Cabarrus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 79-70 loss against Robinson on the 9th.
