Basketball Game Preview: South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots vs. Springfield Longhorns

The South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots will face off against the Springfield Longhorns at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] will head into Saturday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a 27-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Crowley County out 40-37. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Patriots were the better team in the second half.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] found their leader in sophomore Sarah Elmore, who went 8 for 19 en route to 26 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Elmore is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Eliana Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Springfield had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bobcats 58-2. The squad ran away with 46 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]'s win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. As for Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, slipping by Springfield 36-35.
