Basketball Recap: Racine Park Takes a Loss

After flying high against Racine Horlick last Friday, Racine Park came back down to earth. The Racine Park Panthers fell 74-63 to the Franklin Sabers on Tuesday. The matchup was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Racine Park still got an impressive performance from Ellie Khreish, who went 10-for-21 to rack up 35 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Racine Park is 2-1 when Khreish posts five or more steals, but 8-9 otherwise. Madison Gomez was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Franklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brenna Nichols, who went 5-for-7 on her way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Thanks to that strong game, Nichols now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Binkowski, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Racine Park's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 4-14.

Racine Park has already played their next game, an 89-65 defeat against Racine Case on the 6th. As for Franklin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-31 loss against Oak Creek on the 7th.
