Scarlett Avila-Cristobal and Madison Keith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Avila-Cristobal pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Keith pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Avila-Cristobal scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Keith went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Keith a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alissa Flood, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Katelyn Smith was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
East Wake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .805. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hunt came up short against Northern Nash on Monday, falling 25-10. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hannah Spell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Mackey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
The win got East Wake back to even at 2-2. As for Hunt, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
East Wake's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. East Wake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hunt, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will East Wake continue to outrun the ball?
