Football Preview: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Porter Ridge Pirates        
        
		
            The Sun Valley Spartans will venture away from home to  challenge the Porter Ridge Pirates  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Sun Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Sun Valley barely beat Marvin Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp  30-7 win on Friday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 21  points or more this season.
Sun Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Zach Cullen led the charge by rushing for 140 yards and one  score, while also catching one  touchdown. Another signal caller making a difference was  Noah Lineberry, who threw for 162 yards and three  TDs.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sun Valley was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 207  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marvin Ridge only  rushed for six.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Porter Ridge's offense. They were dealt  a  42-0 defeat at the hands of Weddington last Friday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
 Porter Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as  Charles Watson,  Christian Cathen,  and  Dylan Blakeney picked up one apiece. Cathen has been hot recently, having  posted  at least one  interception the last three times he's  played.
 Sun Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Porter Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-3.
 Sun Valley strolled past Porter Ridge in their previous matchup  back in November of 2024 by a score of  28-14. Will the Spartans repeat their success,  or do  the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
