Basketball Recap: Valley Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Valley hadn't done well against Handley recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rams put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 52-26 win. The Rams pushed the score to 52-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Valley was led to victory by Kayden Dooley and Jamiah Johnson. Dooley went 6-for-13 on her way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Johnson shot 46% from the field en route to 18 points and three steals. The matchup was Dooley's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Zorriah Simpson, who posted four points and six steals.

Valley pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Handley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lee-Scott Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Handley, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Central of Clay County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will be up against the Volunteers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
