Baseball Recap: Cherokee Trail Comes Up Short

Cherokee Trail lost against Cherry Creek back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins.

Carter Wilcox was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cherokee Trail saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Ryan, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Cherokee Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Cherry Creek, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4-1.

Cherry Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 win against Eaglecrest on the 23rd. Hopefully Cherokee Trail paid attention to the Bruins' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bruins at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
