Sophie Jimenez commands the offense for a Destroyers win

Recap: Dunellen Destroyers vs. Wardlaw Hartridge Rams

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Middlesex, the Dunellen Destroyers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They rang in the new year with a 32-23 victory over Wardlaw Hartridge. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Dunellen also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Dunellen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Jimenez out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Wendy Woll, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.

Dunellen's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wardlaw Hartridge, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

Dunellen will head out on the road to face off against Perth Amboy Vo-Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Perth Amboy Vo-Tech's defense has only allowed 23.8 points per game this season, so Dunellen's offense will have their work cut out for Dunellen. As for Wardlaw Hartridge, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Amboy at 4:00 p.m. South Amboy is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
