Baseball Game Preview: Suffield Academy Tigers vs. Williston Northampton Wildcats

The Suffield Academy Tigers will square off against the Williston Northampton Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Suffield Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Suffield Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Wilbraham & Monson Academy get on the board and left with a 27-0 victory on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Charlie Gamere looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Suffield Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Chase Beloin was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Suffield Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Joe Banks was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI.

Suffield Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Williston Northampton came up short against Pomfret School on Friday, falling 10-1.

Suffield Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Williston Northampton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6.
