Soccer Game Preview: Cypress Falls vs. Stratford

The Cypress Falls Eagles will challenge the Stratford Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Falls' last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Cypress Falls took on Jersey Village on Saturday. Neither Cypress Falls nor Jersey Village could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Eagles have been dealt a draw since back in January.

Meanwhile, Stratford had just enough and edged Cy-Fair out 2-1 on Saturday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Bobcats are ranked 638th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oliver Burdick and Tarkan Rendle scored both of Stratford's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Stratford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matches. Cypress Falls' draw gives them a new season record of 3-6-3.

Cypress Falls came out on top in a nail-biter against Stratford in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will Cypress Falls repeat their success, or does Stratford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
