Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Valley Aviators vs. Orem Tigers

The Cedar Valley Aviators will face off against the Orem Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Orem likes a good challenge.

Cedar Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 72-62 win over Mountain Ridge on Tuesday.

Owen Bawden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (five). James Milligan was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Cedar Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Ridge only racked up ten assists.

Last Monday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the court. Orem took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Michael's. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Cedar Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Orem, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.

Cedar Valley lost to Orem at home by a decisive 71-54 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Cedar Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
