Baseball Recap: Perry Meridian Comes Up Short

Perry Meridian dropped their record down to 6-11 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 8-0 to the Roncalli Royals. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered against the Royals since May 29, 2017.

Perry Meridian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was DJ Clymore, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Roncalli, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Roncalli's side, the result came thanks to Luke Greene's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Greene.

At the plate, Drew Nelson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Baker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry Meridian will challenge Whiteland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Roncalli, they will square off against Guerin Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
