Softball Recap: Covenant Day Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Covenant Day won the last time they faced Providence Day and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lions came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 7-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Alison Vandiver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Avery Houseton was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March.

Covenant Day pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Day, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Day will take on Charlotte Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence Day, they will face off against Charlotte Country Day School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
