Softball Game Preview: El Toro Chargers vs. Trabuco Hills Mustangs

El Toro is 9-1 against Trabuco Hills since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Chargers will host the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. El Toro will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

If El Toro beats Trabuco Hills with seven runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against San Juan Hills on Tuesday, sneaking past 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Brooklyn Hazlett, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Saylor Hinkson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

El Toro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Trabuco Hills came up short against Beckman on Tuesday and fell 5-2.

El Toro's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Trabuco Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

El Toro took their victory against Trabuco Hills in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2 score. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
