Basketball Recap: North Penn-Mansfield Piles Up the Points Against Wyalusing Valley

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely North Penn-Mansfield's strategy against Wyalusing Valley on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers blew the Wyalusing Valley Rams out of the water with a 60-32 final score. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

North Penn-Mansfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Shaw out in front who went 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points and three steals. The match was Shaw's third in a row with at least 15 points. Alex Davis was another key player, putting up ten points along with eight assists and five boards.

North Penn-Mansfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyalusing Valley only racked up seven assists.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashton Vandemark, who posted six points. Vandemark continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Parker Cunningham also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

North Penn-Mansfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Wyalusing Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-19 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

North Penn-Mansfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-30 victory against Neumann Regional Academy on the 10th. As for Wyalusing Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 66-64 defeat against Sullivan County on the 11th.
