Softball Recap: Millersport Wins Going Away Against Wellington School

Millersport got themselves on the board against Wellington School on Thursday, but Wellington School never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 29-0 victory. Considering the Lakers have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendyl Bonkowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ava Blevins was incredible, going a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kira Squires, who went 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs.

Millersport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .766. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Millersport has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Wellington School, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
