Baseball Game Preview: Cheltenham Panthers vs. Lower Moreland Lions

For the second straight game, Cheltenham will face off against Lower Moreland. The Panthers will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Cheltenham's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Lower Moreland has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Cheltenham will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Lower Moreland, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Panthers skirted past the Lions 2-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Nate Leary spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cheltenham is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tim Dugan, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Billy Fishman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Cheltenham has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Lower Moreland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
