Basketball Game Preview: Valley Springs Tigers vs. Mountain View Yellowjackets

Valley Springs and Mountain View are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Valley Springs Tigers will face off against the Mountain View Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Valley Springs came up short against Melbourne and fell 66-56. The Tigers have struggled against the Bearkatz recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Mountain View entered their tilt with Yellville-Summit on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They took their match with ease, bagging a 70-20 victory over the Panthers. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Panthers are ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain View is also on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Valley Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 23-7.

Valley Springs came up short against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 55-45. Can Valley Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
