The Jefferson Dragons had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 38-29 victory over Sports Leadership & Management on Friday.
Jefferson found their leader in underclassman Damaria Pitcher, who scored 22 points.
When it comes to explaining why Sports Leadership & Management lost, one person who can't be blamed is Samantha Montesdeoca. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Montesdeoca scored a full 51.7% of Sports Leadership & Management's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Jefferson will take on East Bay at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they will face off against Excel Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
