Basketball Recap: Labette County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Mulvane last Thursday, Labette County came back down to earth. The Labette County Grizzlies took a blow against the Collegiate Spartans on Saturday, falling 80-34. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-20.

Despite the defeat, Labette County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tucker Rush posted six points and six boards. Maddox Dewey was another key player, putting up five points.

Labette County dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Collegiate, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Labette County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-51 victory against Independence on the 17th. As for Collegiate, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-74 win against Wellington on the 17th.
