For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cleveland and Cushing meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Cleveland lost 14-2 to Cushing. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cleveland of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Cleveland has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. The win was the third in a row for Cushing, bringing their record up to 7-6.

While Cleveland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
