Baseball Recap: Santaluces Comes Up Short

Santaluces extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-11. They came up short against the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles, falling 12-2. The Chiefs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2017.

Santaluces saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexander Spainhour, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for St. John Paul II Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1. The game marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

On St. John Paul II Academy's side, Campbell Harrison made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Harrison was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, St. John Paul II Academy got a massive performance out of DEREK DOHLER, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jack Wilhoit, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santaluces will welcome Wellington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John Paul II Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against ABF Academy Homestead Black at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
