Basketball Recap: Owen Comes Up Short

Owen lost against Madison back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Owen Warhorses were outmatched by the Madison Patriots and fell 58-30. The Warhorses have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Owen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elly Wright, who posted 17 points and three blocks, and Mia Roland, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 points gave Wright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey Mercurio, who scored three points.

Madison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anna Barnette led the charge by going 5-for-6 to rack up 16 points and eight steals. Barnette has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Sarah Ball was another key player, going 8-for-12 en route to 20 points and four steals.

Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Madison, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.

As of now, neither Owen nor Madison have any future games scheduled.
