Baseball Recap: Pinnacle Comes Up Short

Pinnacle came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-2 to the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions. The defeat continues a trend for the Pioneers in their meetings with the Mountain Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

Pinnacle got a good showing from Dean Duran, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Duran is becoming a predictor of the Pioneers' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-2 (and 5-6-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Pinnacle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raul Escobar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Chase Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Pinnacle's loss dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Mountain Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-11.

While Pinnacle had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
