 Caldwell came into Wednesday's   contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Columbia Wildcats  6-4. The  win was just what Caldwell needed coming off of  an  8-1 defeat in their prior  match.
  Owen Moss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned  (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Eric Kammerman was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with three  RBI and a  double.  Eduardo Sauceda was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 On Columbia's side,  Jared Payne was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Payne was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news,  Hunter Christensen and  Gabe Schwenken did some serious damage despite the final result:  Christensen  went 1-for-4 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI, while  Schwenken  went 3-for-3 with  an  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Aiden Chatterton, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-2.
 Caldwell's victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 6-8. As for Columbia, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record  this season.
 Caldwell will head out on the road to  take on  Bishop Kelly at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Bishop Kelly is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.8  runs per game  this season. As for Columbia, they will be playing at home against Ridgevue at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
